Family run machine shop

Custom manufacturing and repair services

All jobs considered

What was a dream almost 20 years in the making, a hobby turned into a business, from a garage to a unit, Brodie’s Job Shop is a new venture founded by Wayne, Connor, and Finely Brodie in South Brent, Devon. Whether you’re working on a prototype, need a fast turnaround on critical parts, or perhaps have broken a stud off in your dream engine block, we are here to help. Our door is always open, so why not pop down and have a chat or send us a message via our contact form.

Brodie’s job shop is a classic machine shop with traditional values. We’re a father and sons trio with a shared passion for engineering and with our combined experience have set up in South Brent to offer our services, knowledge, and expertise to all those welcome. We get the greatest satisfaction from helping those in need of a little know-how and if it can be fixed we’ll fix it.

Our core business is manufacturing but we wish to open our doors to the public allowing us to give back to our local community, where we can share our skills through means of repair and restoration of the things you bring us.

As manufacturers we understand that our industry is responsible for putting objects into the world and believe where possible, we should extend the life of objects that no longer perform their task. We also want to preserve the knowledge and skills that have been passed down to us, along with the mindset that we mend and service in an attempt to offset our society’s throw-away mentality.

who are we?

We would love to sit down with you and offer a service that meets your requirements exactly. We pride ourselves on being friendly and approachable, delivering attention to detail and care throughout the process. Our dream at Brodie’s is to be a one-stop shop for all your repair and manufacturing needs.

We specialise in one-offs, odd jobs, repair, and restoration. We offer all our services on a one-off basis no matter how big or small the job. Between the three of us at Brodie’s, we cover all aspects of manual machining, welding and fabrication, and electro-mechanical systems. We can offer a complete and personal service from design to installation and maintenance.

With clients in the railway industry, we have been expanding our skill set in both steam locomotives and mainline freight transport. Manufacturing parts for Heritage sites across the UK when they don’t exist anymore has been an exciting and rewarding journey. Mainline wheels have been our bread and butter at Brodie’s and we have been responsible for the finish machining of class 45 and 56 monoblocks on our 1970 Webster and Bennett.

what we do.

After years of problem-solving within our own needs, we realised through conversations that there are other people who require services beyond their skillset but don't have the credentials or volume of work to have their ideas entertained. We take pride in offering our services to everyone, whether it be for Network Rail or Dave from the village.

We do it because we care. We see the potential in what’s left. We do it because so many other people have a similar mindset, to repair and maintain. Unfortunately, we are driven by mass consumerism, to buy to use and when it breaks, to discard and forget, only to repeat.

With the pace at which things are advancing, the rate of obsolete objects increases, spares are no longer produced, and trades fade into memories. We are here to offer that lifeline.
